Our founder, Joanne Trgovcich, Ph.D., brings a distinguished background in microbiology, immunology, and public health. She earned her doctorate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and conducted postdoctoral research both in Europe and at the University of Chicago. As a principal investigator at The Ohio State University, she led a research program examining the pathogenic mechanisms of viral diseases.

After transitioning to the private sector, Dr. Trgovcich applied her expertise to pressing challenges at the intersection of science and policy. She has served as a consultant to federal agencies including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), where she specialized in public health research and human health risk assessments related to environmental toxicants.

The Veles Group Name and Logo

Our company name was derived from Slavic mythology. Veles was a pre-christian slavic deity of wisdom, knowledge, and the arts, and was often represented by a willow tree. He was described as a sage and teacher of humans, responsible for imparting essential skills and guiding intellectual pursuits. For our logo we played upon the willow tree theme using a globe design and integrated elements of water and wind.
